Chemistry punishes vagueness. A student who “sort of” understands moles will get every titration calculation wrong; a student who cannot draw a mechanism properly will lose the organic chemistry marks even when they know what happens. And because the subject builds on itself — bonding into structure, structure into properties, equilibrium into acids and bases — a gap in Year 10 is still costing marks in Year 13.

Mr. Ahmad’s chemistry lessons are organised around the calculations and the explanations that exam boards test again and again: mole calculations, energetics, rates, equilibria, redox, acid-base, organic mechanisms and analysis. Each topic is taught as a set of steps the student can reproduce under pressure, and every lesson ends with past-paper questions marked against the real mark scheme.

Why students work with Mr. Ahmad

  • 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
  • Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
  • Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
  • Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
  • Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends

How lessons work

  1. Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
  2. Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
  3. Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
  4. Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

    Frequently asked questions

Which parts of chemistry do students find hardest?

Mole calculations, organic mechanisms and the long-answer explanation questions. All three are skills rather than facts, and one-to-one practice with immediate correction is the fastest way to build them.

Can you help with the IB Chemistry IA?

Yes, from choosing a workable research question through to data processing, uncertainty and evaluation. The student does the work; Mr. Ahmad makes sure it meets the criteria.

Do you teach both A-Level and IB?

Yes. Mr. Ahmad teaches Edexcel, Cambridge, AQA and OCR A-Level, the IB Diploma (SL and HL) and AP Chemistry, and he keeps the differences between the specifications straight so the student learns exactly what their exam requires.

    Is chemistry tuition available online?

Yes. Structures, mechanisms and calculations are drawn on a digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, and the notes are shared after every lesson.
