GCSE and IGCSE Physics Tutor

One-to-one physics tuition for GCSE and IGCSE students on Edexcel, Cambridge and AQA, including Combined Science and Triple Science, taught by Mr. Ahmad. Online worldwide or in person across Dubai.

GCSE and IGCSE Physics is heavier on maths than students expect. Equations must be recalled, rearranged and applied with the correct units; graphs must be read and gradients found; and the six-mark questions demand a structured explanation using the exact terms in the mark scheme. Students who are comfortable with the ideas often still drop a grade or two on these mechanics of the exam.

Mr. Ahmad teaches GCSE and IGCSE Physics as a set of clear methods: how to approach any equation question, how to write a full-mark explanation, how to describe a required practical and what examiners ask about it. Lessons follow the student’s exact specification — Edexcel IGCSE (4PH1), Cambridge IGCSE (0625/0972), AQA GCSE (8463 or Combined 8464) or Edexcel GCSE — and use only questions from that board.

How GCSE and IGCSE Physics are assessed

  • Edexcel IGCSE (4PH1) — Paper 1P (2 h) and Paper 2P (1 h 15 min), both with a calculator. Double Award students sit only Paper 1P.
  • Cambridge IGCSE (0625) — multiple choice, theory and a practical or alternative-to-practical paper; Core or Extended.
  • AQA GCSE (8463) — two 1 h 45 min papers, Foundation or Higher; Combined Science covers physics in two shorter papers.
  • Equations — some must be recalled, some are given; knowing which is which is worth marks.

Syllabus topics covered

  • Forces and motion — speed, acceleration, distance-time and velocity-time graphs, Newton’s laws, stopping distances, momentum, moments
  • Energy — stores and transfers, efficiency, work and power, specific heat capacity, energy resources
  • Electricity — circuits, current, voltage and resistance, series and parallel, I-V characteristics, mains electricity, static
  • Waves — properties, sound, the electromagnetic spectrum, reflection and refraction, lenses (IGCSE)
  • Magnetism and electromagnetism — fields, motors, induction, transformers
  • Radioactivity, particle model and space — atomic structure, half-life, uses and dangers, density and pressure, the solar system and the life cycle of stars

How Mr. Ahmad teaches GCSE and IGCSE Physics

  • Equation questions taught as a fixed method: write, substitute with units, rearrange, calculate, check
  • Six-mark explanation questions built from the mark scheme so the student learns the key phrases
  • Every required practical covered: purpose, method, variables, graph and typical questions
  • Graph skills practised deliberately, including gradients, intercepts and units
  • Mixed-topic past-paper practice in every lesson
  • A structured revision plan for the last three months before the exams

Why students work with Mr. Ahmad

  • 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
  • Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
  • Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
  • Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
  • Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends

How lessons work

  1. Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
  2. Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
  3. Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
  4. Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Try a full lesson with Mr. Ahmad at half price before you commit to anything. It is a real lesson, not a sales call: bring a topic the student is stuck on and we will work through it together.

  • Online from anywhere in the world, or in person across Dubai
  • You get honest feedback on where the student stands and what to fix first
  • No card, no contract — if it is not the right fit, that is fine

    Frequently asked questions

Do you teach Combined Science as well as Triple Science?

Yes. Combined (Double Award) students sit fewer physics papers with less content; Triple students sit separate papers. Lessons follow whichever the student is doing.

My child cannot rearrange equations. Can you fix that?

Yes, and quickly. It is a maths skill more than a physics skill, and because Mr. Ahmad also teaches maths it is dealt with directly in the physics lessons.

Do you cover the required practicals?

Yes. Practical-based questions are worth around 15% of the marks and students rarely revise them properly. We go through each one systematically.

Is online physics tuition effective at GCSE?

Yes. Diagrams, circuits and graphs are drawn live on a shared whiteboard, and the student receives the annotated notes after each lesson.
