AP Calculus Tutor: AB, BC, AP Statistics and SAT Math

One-to-one tuition for American-curriculum maths, taught by Mr. Ahmad: Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Statistics and the SAT / ACT maths sections. Online worldwide or in person in Dubai.

The American maths sequence moves quickly and each course assumes the previous one was mastered. A student who scraped through Algebra 2 will struggle in Pre-Calculus, and a student who is shaky on Pre-Calculus will find AP Calculus overwhelming by October. The AP exams then add their own demands: multiple-choice questions with tempting wrong answers, free-response questions that require justification in words, and strict rules about calculator and non-calculator sections.

Mr. Ahmad’s AP and American-curriculum lessons follow the College Board course and exam description exactly. Each unit is taught with the AP-style questions that go with it, free-response answers are practised with the real scoring guidelines, and calculator use on the TI-84 or TI-Nspire is taught as a skill in its own right. For SAT and ACT, lessons focus on speed, accuracy and the specific question types that repeat on every test.

How AP Calculus is assessed

  • Section I: Multiple choice — 45 questions in 1 h 45 min. Part A (30 questions) no calculator; Part B (15 questions) graphing calculator required.
  • Section II: Free response — 6 questions in 1 h 30 min. Part A (2 questions) calculator; Part B (4 questions) no calculator.
  • Scoring — 1 to 5. FRQs are scored with published guidelines that reward justification, correct notation and units, not just answers.
  • AB vs BC — BC covers everything in AB plus series, parametric and polar functions, and extra integration techniques, and gives an AB subscore.

Courses and topics covered

  • AP Calculus AB — limits and continuity, differentiation (definition, rules, implicit, related rates), applications of derivatives, integration and accumulation, differential equations, applications of integration
  • AP Calculus BC — all AB content plus integration by parts and partial fractions, improper integrals, Euler’s method, logistic models, parametric, polar and vector functions, infinite sequences and series
  • AP Statistics — exploring data, sampling and experiments, probability, random variables, sampling distributions, confidence intervals and significance tests, chi-square and regression inference
  • Pre-Calculus — functions, polynomials and rationals, exponentials and logarithms, trigonometry, polar and parametric functions, sequences, matrices
  • Algebra 1 & 2 and Geometry — the foundations, taught with the pacing of the student’s school
  • SAT / ACT Math — algebra, problem solving and data analysis, advanced maths, geometry and trigonometry, with timed practice

How Mr. Ahmad teaches AP and American maths

  • Lessons follow the College Board unit sequence and the student’s school pacing
  • Free-response practice with the official scoring guidelines, so students learn to justify answers
  • Separate practice for calculator and non-calculator sections
  • Graphing calculator skills taught explicitly (TI-84 Plus, TI-Nspire)
  • Full timed practice exams from March onwards for the May AP exams
  • SAT / ACT test strategy and timing alongside content

How lessons work

  1. Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
  2. Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
  3. Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
  4. Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

    Frequently asked questions

Do you teach AP Calculus AB and BC?

Yes, both, plus AP Statistics. Lessons are matched to the student’s course and to the exact College Board exam format.

Can you help a student who is behind in Pre-Calculus or Algebra 2?

Yes. Catching up in these courses is the best investment before AP Calculus, and it is one of the most common reasons families contact Mr. Ahmad.

Do you do SAT and ACT maths?

Yes. SAT and ACT preparation covers content review, timed practice and question strategy for the maths sections, and can run alongside school maths tuition.

What score can a student expect?

That depends on the starting point and the time available. Students who start in the autumn and do the homework typically move up at least one score band by May; many reach a 5.
