AP Physics Tutor: Physics 1, Physics 2 and Physics C
One-to-one tuition for AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2 and AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism), taught by Mr. Ahmad. Online for students anywhere in the world, or in person in Dubai.
AP Physics 1 is well known for its low pass rate, and the reason is the exam style. Questions are conceptual and wordy, the free-response section asks for paragraph-length arguments and experimental design, and multiple-choice options are written to catch students who calculate without thinking. AP Physics C adds calculus and is the closest thing in the American system to a university physics course.
Mr. Ahmad’s AP Physics lessons follow the College Board course and exam description unit by unit and use the released free-response questions with their official scoring guidelines, so students learn what a full-credit justification looks like. For Physics C, the calculus is taught alongside the physics, which suits students taking AP Calculus at the same time.
How AP Physics is assessed
- AP Physics 1 and 2 — 40 multiple-choice questions (80 min) and 4 free-response questions (100 min), including an experimental design and a qualitative/quantitative translation question.
- AP Physics C: Mechanics and C: E&M — separate exams, each with 40 multiple-choice (80 min) and 4 free-response questions (100 min).
- Calculator and equation sheet — allowed throughout, so the exam rewards reasoning rather than recall.
- Scoring — 1 to 5; free-response points are awarded for correct reasoning, correct physics principles and clear justification.
Courses and units covered
- AP Physics 1 — kinematics, dynamics, circular motion and gravitation, energy, momentum, simple harmonic motion, torque and rotational motion, fluids
- AP Physics 2 — thermodynamics, electric force, field and potential, circuits, magnetism and electromagnetic induction, geometric and physical optics, modern physics
- AP Physics C: Mechanics — kinematics, Newton’s laws, work, energy and power, systems of particles and linear momentum, rotation, oscillations, gravitation, all with calculus
- AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism — electrostatics, conductors and capacitors, electric circuits, magnetic fields, electromagnetism, Maxwell’s equations at an introductory level
- Experimental design and data analysis — the lab-based free-response questions that appear on every exam
- Paragraph-length responses — how to build a physics argument the reader can award full credit to
How Mr. Ahmad teaches AP Physics
- Concept-first teaching, because the AP exam tests understanding more than calculation
- Released FRQs practised with the official scoring guidelines every week
- Multiple-choice strategy: eliminating distractors, checking units and limiting cases
- For Physics C, calculus taught alongside the physics so nothing is assumed
- Experimental-design questions practised as a specific skill
- Full timed practice exams from March for the May administration
Why students work with Mr. Ahmad
- 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
- Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
- Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
- Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
- Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends
How lessons work
- Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
- Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
- Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
- Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Try a full lesson with Mr. Ahmad at half price before you commit to anything. It is a real lesson, not a sales call: bring a topic the student is stuck on and we will work through it together.
- Online from anywhere in the world, or in person across Dubai
- You get honest feedback on where the student stands and what to fix first
- No card, no contract — if it is not the right fit, that is fine

Frequently asked questions
Which AP Physics courses do you teach?
AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and both AP Physics C exams (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism).
Does my child need calculus for AP Physics C?
Yes, Physics C uses derivatives and integrals throughout. Mr. Ahmad teaches AP Calculus too, so the calculus is covered as part of the physics lessons if needed.
Why is AP Physics 1 so hard?
The exam is built around explanation and reasoning rather than plugging into equations. Students who prepare by doing textbook calculation problems are surprised by it. Preparing with real FRQs and scoring guidelines makes the difference.
Can you help with SAT Physics or school honors physics?
Yes. Honors and regular high-school physics are covered, and lessons can be combined with SAT or ACT preparation.
