A-Level Physics Tutor
One-to-one A-Level and AS Physics tuition for Edexcel, Cambridge International (9702), AQA and OCR A, taught by Mr. Ahmad. Online for students anywhere in the world, or in person in Dubai.
A-Level Physics has one of the lowest proportions of top grades of any A-Level, and the reason is not that the ideas are impossibly hard. It is that the papers demand three things at once: solid understanding of the concepts, confident mathematics (including some calculus and logarithms), and precise written explanations. A student who is weak in any one of the three will find the paper unforgiving.
Mr. Ahmad’s A-Level Physics lessons deal with all three. Concepts are taught with diagrams and derivations so the equations make sense; the mathematics is taught directly rather than assumed; and explanation questions are practised with the board’s mark schemes until the student writes the way examiners want to read. Practical skills — uncertainties, graphs, log plots and evaluation — are built in throughout, since they appear in every paper and not only in the practical assessment.
How A-Level Physics is assessed
- Edexcel (9PH0) — Paper 1 (Advanced Physics I), Paper 2 (Advanced Physics II), Paper 3 (general and practical principles), plus the practical endorsement.
- Cambridge International (9702) — multiple choice, AS structured questions, an AS practical, A2 structured questions and an A2 practical-skills paper.
- AQA (7408) — three papers, the third including practical skills and an option topic (astrophysics, medical physics, engineering physics, turning points, electronics).
- OCR A (H556) — modelling physics, exploring physics, and a unified physics paper, plus the practical endorsement.
Syllabus topics covered
- Mechanics — kinematics, projectiles, forces and moments, momentum and impulse, work, energy and power, circular motion, simple harmonic motion
- Materials — density, Hooke’s law, Young modulus, stress-strain curves, viscosity and Stokes’ law
- Waves and optics — superposition, standing waves, diffraction gratings, polarisation, refraction and total internal reflection, the photoelectric effect and wave-particle duality
- Electricity — current and resistance, potential dividers, EMF and internal resistance, capacitors and exponential discharge
- Fields — gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, Coulomb’s law, capacitance, electromagnetic induction, particle accelerators
- Nuclear, thermal and astrophysics — radioactivity and decay, binding energy, fission and fusion, ideal gases and kinetic theory, stellar physics, cosmology and the option topics
How Mr. Ahmad teaches A-Level Physics
- Concepts derived, not just stated, so equations are understood rather than memorised
- The mathematics of physics taught directly: vectors, gradients, logs, exponentials and calculus
- Explanation questions written to the mark scheme, with the phrases examiners award marks for
- Practical skills embedded throughout: uncertainties, graphs, log-log and ln plots, evaluation
- Board-specific past-paper practice every lesson; timed papers from the spring of Year 13
- Support for university admissions tests (PAT, ENGAA) and physics or engineering applications
Why students work with Mr. Ahmad
- 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
- Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
- Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
- Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
- Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends
How lessons work
- Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
- Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
- Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
- Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Try a full lesson with Mr. Ahmad at half price before you commit to anything. It is a real lesson, not a sales call: bring a topic the student is stuck on and we will work through it together.
- Online from anywhere in the world, or in person across Dubai
- You get honest feedback on where the student stands and what to fix first
- No card, no contract — if it is not the right fit, that is fine

Frequently asked questions
Which boards do you teach?
Edexcel, Cambridge International (9702), AQA and OCR A. Dubai students are mostly on Edexcel or Cambridge; UK online students are commonly on AQA or OCR.
My child is fine with the physics but loses marks on the maths. Is that common?
Very. Rearranging, units, standard form, gradients and logarithms account for a large share of lost marks. Mr. Ahmad teaches maths as well, so this is fixed inside the physics lessons.
Do you help with the practical endorsement and practical-skills papers?
Yes. Data handling, uncertainty analysis, graph work and evaluation are taught as core skills, not as an afterthought.
Can you help a student who has fallen behind in Year 12?
Yes. We identify where understanding broke down, rebuild it, and run alongside the school’s current topics so the student does not fall further behind.
