A-Level Maths Tutor
One-to-one A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics tuition, taught by Mr. Ahmad. Pure, Mechanics and Statistics for Edexcel, Cambridge International, AQA and OCR, online worldwide or in person in Dubai.
The jump from GCSE to A-Level Maths is the biggest in the whole school curriculum. Students who got a 9 at GCSE without much effort suddenly meet proof, calculus and long multi-step problems, and the habit of “just getting the answer” stops working. Many Year 12 students lose confidence in the first term and never fully recover it.
Mr. Ahmad’s A-Level lessons build the thing A-Level actually rewards: fluent, accurate algebra combined with a clear method for unfamiliar problems. Pure topics are taught as connected ideas rather than a list of techniques, Mechanics is taught with proper diagrams and a consistent approach to setting up equations, and Statistics is taught with the large data set and hypothesis-testing logic that examiners keep coming back to. Every lesson uses exam questions from the student’s own board.
How A-Level Maths is assessed
- Edexcel (9MA0) — three 2-hour papers: Pure 1, Pure 2, and Statistics & Mechanics. All equally weighted.
- Cambridge International (9709) — modular: Pure 1 and Pure 3 plus two of Mechanics, Probability & Statistics 1 and 2.
- AQA (7357) and OCR (H240) — three papers mixing pure with mechanics and statistics.
- Further Maths — Core Pure plus options such as Further Mechanics, Further Statistics and Decision Maths.
- Calculator — allowed in all papers, and a graphical or advanced scientific calculator is expected.
Syllabus topics covered
- Pure — proof, algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, binomial expansion, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration, numerical methods, vectors
- Pure (Year 2) — partial fractions, parametric equations, implicit differentiation, integration techniques, differential equations, radians and small-angle approximations, 3D vectors
- Mechanics — kinematics and SUVAT, variable acceleration, forces and Newton’s laws, connected particles, moments, projectiles, friction
- Statistics — sampling and the large data set, measures of location and spread, probability, discrete and normal distributions, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression
- Further Maths — complex numbers, matrices, proof by induction, hyperbolic functions, polar coordinates, further calculus, further mechanics and statistics options
- Exam skill — multi-step problem solving, ‘show that’ questions, modelling assumptions, interpreting results in context
How Mr. Ahmad teaches A-Level Maths
- Algebra fluency first: if the algebra is slow or unreliable, every other topic suffers
- Pure topics taught as connected ideas, with the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’
- A consistent method for Mechanics: diagram, forces, equations, solve, check
- Statistics taught with the actual large data set and the board’s hypothesis-testing conventions
- Past-paper questions in every lesson, timed full papers from the spring term of Year 13
- Further Maths and STEP / MAT / TMUA preparation for students aiming at competitive universities
Why students work with Mr. Ahmad
- 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
- Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
- Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
- Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
- Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends
How lessons work
- Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
- Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
- Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
- Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Try a full lesson with Mr. Ahmad at half price before you commit to anything. It is a real lesson, not a sales call: bring a topic the student is stuck on and we will work through it together.
- Online from anywhere in the world, or in person across Dubai
- You get honest feedback on where the student stands and what to fix first
- No card, no contract — if it is not the right fit, that is fine

Frequently asked questions
Do you teach Further Maths?
Yes, including Core Pure and the Further Mechanics, Further Statistics and Decision options for Edexcel, and the equivalent Cambridge and AQA modules.
Can you help a student who has fallen behind in Year 12?
Yes. This is one of the most common situations. We find the point where things stopped making sense, rebuild from there, and catch up with class at the same time.
Which boards do you teach?
Edexcel, Cambridge International (9709), AQA and OCR. Dubai students are usually on Edexcel or Cambridge; UK online students are typically Edexcel, AQA or OCR.
Do you prepare students for university admissions tests?
Yes. Mr. Ahmad prepares students for the MAT, TMUA and STEP alongside their A-Level lessons.
