Algebra Tutor: Help with Algebra from Grade 7 to A-Level

One-to-one algebra tuition, taught by Mr. Ahmad. From first equations in Grade 7 to Algebra 2, GCSE and IGCSE Higher tier and the algebra that A-Level and IB rely on. Online worldwide, or in person in Dubai.

Algebra is the language every later maths course is written in. A student who is slow or unreliable at manipulating expressions will struggle with everything that follows — quadratics, functions, trigonometry, calculus, even physics and chemistry calculations. And because algebra is taught early and fast, gaps from Grade 7 or 8 are still costing marks in Year 11 and Year 13.

Mr. Ahmad’s algebra lessons find the exact point where things stopped making sense and rebuild from there. Each skill is taught as a clear method with the reasoning behind it, then practised until it is automatic. For older students the lessons run alongside their current course, fixing the algebra while keeping up with class; for younger students they build the fluency that makes the next five years easier.

Who algebra tuition is for

  • Grade 6–9, KS3 and MYP students building the foundations
  • Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 students in the American curriculum, including Honors
  • GCSE and IGCSE students, Foundation and Higher tier, on Edexcel, Cambridge and AQA
  • A-Level, IB and AP students whose algebra is holding back the rest of their maths
  • SAT and ACT candidates, where algebra is the largest section of the test
  • Students returning to maths after a gap

Topics covered

  • Expressions, expanding and factorising, indices and surds
  • Linear equations and inequalities, simultaneous equations, rearranging formulae
  • Quadratics: factorising, completing the square, the formula, discriminant, graphs
  • Functions and graphs, transformations, inverse and composite functions
  • Sequences, exponentials and logarithms, algebraic fractions
  • Polynomials, the factor theorem, proof, and the algebra used in calculus

How lessons work

  • A short diagnostic to locate the gaps, usually two or three specific skills
  • Each skill taught with a method and the reason it works
  • Deliberate practice with immediate correction, so wrong habits do not set in
  • Worksheets after each lesson to build speed
  • Exam questions from the student’s own board or course
  • Progress checked against school tests and exams

Why students work with Mr. Ahmad

  • 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
  • Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
  • Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
  • Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
  • Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends

    Frequently asked questions

My child is in Year 12 but their algebra is weak. Is it worth fixing now?

Definitely. Weak algebra is the most common reason strong students underperform at A-Level and IB, and it is usually only a handful of skills that need repairing.

Do you teach Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for American-curriculum students?

Yes, including Honors classes, with lessons matched to the school’s pacing and textbook.

How long does it take to fix algebra gaps?

Most students see a clear improvement within four to six lessons, because the gaps are usually specific and fixable.

Are lessons online or in person?

Both: online anywhere in the world on Zoom or Google Meet, or at home for students in Dubai.
