GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry Tutor
One-to-one chemistry tuition for GCSE and IGCSE students on Edexcel, Cambridge and AQA, including Combined Science and Triple Science, taught by Mr. Ahmad. Online worldwide or in person across Dubai.
GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry has a reputation as the hardest of the three sciences, mainly because of quantitative chemistry. Moles, concentrations, reacting masses and titration calculations are where most marks are lost, and they cannot be learned by reading — only by doing, with someone correcting the method. The other big mark-loser is the explanation question: “explain why” answers that describe instead of explaining, or that miss the one key word the mark scheme needs.
Mr. Ahmad’s GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry lessons make the calculations mechanical and the explanations precise. Each topic is taught from the student’s specification — Edexcel IGCSE (4CH1), Cambridge IGCSE (0620/0971), AQA GCSE (8462) or Edexcel GCSE — and every lesson ends with board-specific past-paper questions marked against the real mark scheme.
How GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry are assessed
- Edexcel IGCSE (4CH1) — Paper 1C (2 h) and Paper 2C (1 h 15 min); Double Award students sit Paper 1C only.
- Cambridge IGCSE (0620) — multiple choice, theory and a practical or alternative-to-practical paper; Core or Extended.
- AQA GCSE (8462) — two 1 h 45 min papers, Foundation or Higher; Combined Science covers chemistry in two shorter papers.
- Periodic table — provided in every paper; the skill is in using it for masses, groups and trends.
Syllabus topics covered
- Atomic structure and the periodic table — atoms, isotopes, electron configuration, groups 1, 7 and 0, transition metals
- Bonding, structure and properties — ionic, covalent and metallic bonding, giant and simple structures, allotropes of carbon, nanoparticles
- Quantitative chemistry — relative formula mass, moles, reacting masses, concentration, titrations, gas volumes, yield and atom economy
- Chemical changes and energy — reactivity series, extraction of metals, acids and bases, electrolysis, exothermic and endothermic reactions, bond energies
- Rates, equilibrium and organic chemistry — collision theory, catalysts, reversible reactions, crude oil, alkanes and alkenes, alcohols, carboxylic acids, polymers
- Chemical analysis and the atmosphere — purity, chromatography, gas tests, ion tests, the evolution of the atmosphere, pollution, using resources
How Mr. Ahmad teaches GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry
- Mole calculations taught as a fixed method and practised until automatic
- Explanation questions built from the mark scheme so the key terms are always there
- Every required practical covered: purpose, method, variables and typical questions
- Board-specific past-paper practice in every lesson
- Higher-tier and Triple-only content stretched for students aiming at grades 8–9
- A revision plan for the last three months, organised around full timed papers
Why students work with Mr. Ahmad
- 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
- Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
- Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
- Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
- Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends
How lessons work
- Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
- Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
- Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
- Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Try a full lesson with Mr. Ahmad at half price before you commit to anything. It is a real lesson, not a sales call: bring a topic the student is stuck on and we will work through it together.
- Online from anywhere in the world, or in person across Dubai
- You get honest feedback on where the student stands and what to fix first
- No card, no contract — if it is not the right fit, that is fine

Frequently asked questions
Which boards do you teach?
Edexcel IGCSE and GCSE, Cambridge IGCSE (Core and Extended), and AQA GCSE, including Combined Science and Triple Science.
My child finds moles impossible. Is that fixable?
Yes, and usually within a few lessons. Moles is a method, not a mystery, and with the right sequence of steps most students get it quickly.
Do you cover the required practicals?
Yes. Practical questions are a regular feature of every paper and we go through each required practical systematically.
Can lessons be online?
Yes. Structures, equations and calculations are worked through on a shared digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, and the notes are sent afterwards.
