Statistics Tutor: A-Level, IB, AP Statistics and University
One-to-one statistics tuition, taught by Mr. Ahmad. Probability, distributions, hypothesis testing and regression for A-Level, IB Maths (AI and AA), AP Statistics and university courses. Online worldwide, or in person in Dubai.
Statistics is taught differently from the rest of maths and students often find it slippery: the calculations are easy but the questions ask for interpretation, and the interpretation has to be worded exactly right. Which test to use, what the hypotheses are, what a p-value actually means, how to state a conclusion “in context” — these are the marks students lose, and they are rarely taught explicitly at school.
Mr. Ahmad’s statistics lessons teach the logic behind each technique as well as the calculation, so the student can choose the right method and explain the result. Calculator and technology skills are taught properly, since modern statistics exams expect them, and every lesson uses questions from the student’s own course, whether that is the A-Level large data set, an IB AI HL hypothesis test or an AP Statistics free-response question.
Who statistics tuition is for
- A-Level Maths (Statistics component) and Further Statistics
- IB Mathematics AI SL and HL, and the statistics in AA
- AP Statistics
- University students in psychology, business, economics, biology, nursing and social sciences taking introductory statistics
- Students doing the statistical parts of IB Biology, A-Level Biology or Geography
- Researchers and professionals who need to refresh the basics
Topics covered
- Descriptive statistics: measures of location and spread, box plots, histograms, outliers
- Probability: conditional probability, Venn and tree diagrams, independence
- Random variables and distributions: binomial, normal, Poisson, geometric, uniform
- Sampling and sampling distributions, the central limit theorem, confidence intervals
- Hypothesis testing: z, t, chi-squared, binomial and correlation tests, p-values, errors
- Correlation and regression, including interpreting output from calculators and software
How lessons work
- The logic of each method taught first, then the calculation
- ‘In context’ conclusions practised until the wording is automatic
- Calculator and software skills (GDC, TI-84, Excel, SPSS basics) taught explicitly
- Course-specific practice: large data set, IB AI technology questions, AP FRQs
- Help with statistics coursework and IA data analysis
- Timed exam practice before the exams
Why students work with Mr. Ahmad
- 13+ years of one-to-one tutoring across British, IB, American, SABIS and Australian curricula
- Exam-focused: every lesson is built around what the mark scheme rewards, not just what the textbook says
- Online lessons that actually work: iPad and digital whiteboard on Zoom or Google Meet, so you see every line of working
- Lesson notes and worksheets after each session, so the student has something to revise from
- Flexible timing across time zones, including evenings and weekends
How lessons work
- Trial lesson at 50% off. A first full lesson at half price, to see where the student is and how we work together.
- Plan. We map the syllabus against the exam date and agree what to cover, in what order.
- Weekly lessons. One-to-one, usually 60 or 90 minutes, with homework set from past-paper questions.
- Exam run-in. Timed papers, mark-scheme review, and a checklist of the mistakes that cost marks.

Frequently asked questions
Do you teach university statistics?
Yes. Introductory and first-year statistics for psychology, business, economics, biology and health-science degrees, including help understanding SPSS or Excel output.
Can you help with the statistics in an IB IA or a biology coursework?
Yes. Choosing an appropriate test, running it correctly and interpreting the result are common requests.
Which exams do you prepare for?
A-Level Maths and Further Maths statistics, IB AI SL/HL and AA, and AP Statistics.
Are lessons online?
Yes. Data, graphs and calculator screens are shared live, which works very well for statistics.
